If you’ve been wandering around Kuta Lombok looking for a place that serves a proper grilled dish, one that hits the table with aroma, flavor, and a little drama. Then you’re going to love what El Bazar offers. It’s the kind of place where you sit down for just dinner and somehow stay longer than planned because the food and the whole atmosphere convince you to take your time.
And honestly, that’s how grilled food should be enjoyed anyway: slowly, happily, and with good company.

When people think of El Bazar, they often imagine Mediterranean plates, shared dining, and warm lighting that makes everyone look just a tiny bit better. The restaurant puts a lot of care into the ingredients they choose, meats with real character, seafood that hasn’t traveled halfway across the world, and fresh produce from the island.
The grill menu is built for people who appreciate flavor without pretense. Nothing is overcomplicated. Nothing tries too hard. It’s just the kind of grilled food you want at the end of a long beach day, prepared by chefs who know how to bring out natural flavor with a bit of smoke and technique.
And because of El Bazar’s Mediterranean influence, you get something different from the typical Indonesian-style grill or Western barbecue.

Okay, let’s get to the meat. For the serious beef lovers, the Black Angus Strip Loin is a heavy hitter. You get a massive 350 grams of meat for 575k. It’s cooked to that perfect point where the outside has that char you crave, but the inside stays juicy.
If you prefer a fattier cut and let’s be real, fat is flavor, the Kilcoy Rib Eye is the way to go. It’s a 300-gram cut priced at 550k. The marbling on this steak renders down over the grill, making every bite incredibly tender. It’s the kind of dish that makes you stop talking for a minute just to enjoy it.
If you are leaning towards something a bit more gamey, try the New Zealand Lamb hind shank. It’s a 400-gram portion slow-cooked with Ras-el Hanout, potato puree, and prunes for 435k.
Sometimes, you just want to treat yourself. Maybe it’s your last night in Lombok, or maybe you just really love good beef. El Bazar offers some serious Wagyu options that rival high-end steakhouses in Bali or Jakarta.
They serve a Wagyu Tokusen skirt steak (MB-6) which is 400 grams of pure joy for 550k. Skirt steak is an underrated cut; it has a deep, beefy flavor that stands up well to the grill.
But if you want to go all out, look at the Japanese cuts. They have a Wagyu Miyazaki A5 Skirt Steak (200gr) for 880k and a Wagyu Miyazaki A5 Bavette (200gr) for 950k. A5 is the highest grade you can get. It literally melts on your tongue like butter.
This is one of the dishes people keep coming back for. The chicken is marinated, grilled until the skin gets that crisp-but-still-juicy texture, and served with roasted chicken jus that ties everything together. It’s rich without being heavy, and the grill marks add this subtle smokiness that works perfectly with the jus.
It’s the kind of meal you order when you want something comforting but not boring. If you’re the type of person who loves dipping bread into sauce, just know you’ll do that here without shame.
I highly recommend the Yakitori beef. It’s a short plate cut served with tare sauce for IDR 85K/pc. It’s a salty, savory bite that wakes up your palate.
Another standout is the Beef tartare for 130k. I know it’s not “grilled,” but it uses tenderloin and comes with smoked aioli and cured egg yolk. The smoke in the aioli ties it back to the grill theme beautifully.
Being on an island, a grill restaurant in Kuta Lombok has to deliver on seafood. We are surrounded by the ocean, after all. El Bazar celebrates local produce with a Mediterranean twist.
The Grilled Fish of the day is a staple. It’s priced at 180k or 220k depending on the market and size, and it’s served with a classic beurre blanc and onion chutney. The acidity of the sauce cuts through the smokiness of the fish perfectly.
If you want a showstopper for the table, order the Oven baked whole fish. It’s 1kg of fish seasoned simply with salt, lemon, and Spanish olive oil for 350k. It’s honest food.
Grilled cephalopods can be tricky. Cook them too long, and they are rubber; too short, and they are slimy. The kitchen here nails the texture.
The Grilled squid costs 185k and comes with a reduced bouillabaisse, preserved lemon, and chives. That bouillabaisse reduction is intense seafood flavor concentrated into a sauce. It’s delicious.
Then there is the Grilled octopus for 140k. It’s paired with walnut romesco and pomegranate molasses. The pomegranate adds a sticky sweetness that works surprisingly well with the char of the octopus.
For something a bit lighter but packed with flavor, the Grilled moon scallops are a must-try. You get 10 pieces for 140k.
What makes this dish interesting is the local influence. They are served with house sambal, kemangi (lemon basil), and kaffir lime. It’s a nod to Indonesian flavors while keeping the preparation simple and elegant.
You can also opt for the Sumbawa wild prawn for 230k. Sumbawa is the island next door, known for its massive prawns.

The whole philosophy here is inspired by the freedom of expression within Mediterranean cuisine. It’s about sharing.
Instead of everyone guarding their own plate, order a bunch of things. Get the Grilled Octopus to start, share the Whole Fish and the Black Angus Strip Loin, and throw in some Roasted Cauliflower.
It makes the dinner more social and fun. Plus, you get to try more flavors without exploding. It’s how food is meant to be eaten in the Mediterranean, and it fits the island vibe perfectly.
